- Abstract
Tezkires don't evaluate to poets with only their poems. A poet's identity, personality, physical appearance and level of education is as important as the ability of being a poet. In addition poet's religious-mystical thought and way of life has been in tezkires. In this context, the poets who have ideas which are suitable for Ahl al-Sunnah, are accepted as clear cult and they are considered acceptable. Poets that are opponent to Ahl al-Sunnah, are described free cult (accomodating) and they are considered heretical. In tezkires clear cult poets are acclaimed abundantly. Heretic poets are insulted. These have got free and easy temperament. Their remarks and poems are full with curse or rubbish. Heretics invent cults that are suitable for own corrupt beliefs and in this way they try to conceal ideas which are opposition to Ahl al-Sunnah. Otherwise they are judged and killed. Charging a poet with heresy, it is a kind of killing him. Therefore, some poets were charged with heresy with the fear of death, either they lost their minds or they have some incurable diseases. In this article, the subject of heresy is not discussed again on political, social, juridical or terminological sizes. The basic (main) purpose of this study is to display how the events of zendeka ve ilhad are approached with general lines by the sixteen century's tezkires.
