- Abstract
This article discusses the management practices of Iranian urologists in treating anterior urethral stricture disease. The authors note that trauma, specifically straddle injuries, can contribute to anterior urethral disease but was not mentioned in the study. They also highlight the omission of the Optilume treatment, a minimally invasive option for urethral strictures. The study found that urethral dilatation was the most commonly performed procedure, and only a small percentage of urologists surveyed had experience with formal urethroplasty. Similar findings were reported in a UK study, emphasizing the need for patients with recurrent disease to be referred to specialist centers.
