- Abstract
The sites of the Sintashta, Petrovka and Alakul archaeological cultures of the Bronze Age of the Southern Trans-Urals (Russia) have been traditionally considered as part of early Indo-European communities. Archaeological research of Bronze Age cemeteries near the modern Stepnoye village (Southern Trans-Urals, Russia) presented extensive materials for the reconstruction of women's and children's costumes of the Sintashta, Petrovka and Alakul archaeological cultures. Ornament complexes were recreated with the help of restoration methods. The methods of experimental archeology made it possible to create natural copies of costumes and reconstruct the ways of wearing them. In ancient societies, costume not only reflected notions of beauty but also embodied religious and symbolic ideas, a picture of the world accepted by the culture, as well as communicating information about the social status and position of the individual.
