- Abstract
Introduction: health indicators are measures that provide information on different health dimensions and attributes and on the factors that determine them. This study aimed to analyze the indicators of a Pediatric intensive care unit through the diagnostic of the profile of patients admitted to the ICU and by checking the occupancy rates, length of stay and other important data to the hospital. Methods: the research has a descriptive, exploratory, longitudinal, prospective, documentary and quantitative approach. Data collection was carried out between March 2015 and February 2016, after approval from the hospital Ethics Committee. Results: the sample studied had the average age of 10.63 ± 0.50 years with 73.10 ± 2.45% of male prevalence, and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) stood out as the cause of admission. The occupancy rate during the studied period was 86.13%. Conclusion: the results led to the conclusion that the males predominate in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in relation to females, with Traumatic Brain Injury as the main cause and the average of 8.72 ± 0.47 days of mechanical ventilation use in 75.30% of the cases.
