- Title
Bleakest global outlook in decades tests policy makers.
- Authors
Robertson, Rory
- Abstract
The article reports on the decision of several central banks to cut policy rates as job losses have multiplied in Australia in 2009. It mentions that the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) and the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) have reduced rates to 3.5% and 3.25%. It states that the central banks whose policy rates are not yet near to zero will stay under pressure to reduce rates for the foreseeable future as long as unemployment remains to increase and inflation continues to decline.
