- Abstract
The article presents the first report of the ipsilateral transtentorial migration of cerebral sparganosis. A 52-year-old man was found with multiple conglomerated ring-enhanced lesions in the left frontal lobe as indicated by magnetic resonance imaging and also presented with headache. Also performed were subtotal resection of the mass and the histopathological diagnosis of gemistocytic astrocytoma. Postoperative radiotherapy of remnant mass was explained. Multiple lesions on the left cerebellum developed six months after surgery. After total resection, a live yellow 10-centimeter long worm with an active scolex was found and was identified as a sparganum of Spirometra mansoni. It is suggested that the worm may have moved to the ipsilateral cerebellum due to stimulus from the surgery.
