- Abstract
The article presents discussion of plantation-genre Tamil literature of Sri Lanka and its social elements. Details are given describing the rise of Tamil literature in the region as an expression of the minority community of the nation. Discussion is offered identifying the role of an author as an agent of self-consciousness and within the social structure of the agrarian Tamil society. Further commentary is given expanding the local community identity dynamics to the regional and national level of social awareness in Sri Lanka.
