Fell pony syndrome: mutation identified.
Abstract
The article reports on the discovery of geneticists that mutation was the cause of foal immunodeficiency syndrome (FIS) in Great Britain. The disease also known as Fell pony syndrome affects both Fell and Dales ponies and it is fatal to any affected animal. June Swinburne, a geneticist, infers that the identification of mutation as the cause of the disease prevents unnecessary suffering and eradicate the awful condition.
