- Title
Zapateado en sones de Xantolo y sones huastecos: Sensación físicamente encarnada.
- Abstract
Taking into account both the argument that body and movement are cultural and social constructions and the notion of (social) dances as structured movement systems, this work deals with the dancing of sones huastecos, which are performed mostly in social occasions, and sones de Xantolo, which are performed during All Saints' Day celebrations. Improvised or choreographed, zapateado, the particular footwork used in the dance, is central to both types of sones. Zapateado builds community and embodies aesthetic values shared by the members of the community. A worldview rich in symbolism is particularly embedded in sones de Xantolo and reflected in the dance.
