- Title
Unusual Early Lenses in the George Eastman House Collection.
- Authors
Kingslake, R.
- Abstract
The article reports on the collection of various photographic lenses at George Eastman House in Rochester, New York. It notes that the collection was started by the acquisition of the Cromer collection in 1939, which included many remarkable lenses. Many of these very early lenses are of the Petzval Portrait Lens type, mounted in polished brass tubes with rack and pinion focusing, and often with a slot for the insertion of Waterhouse stops. Moreover, one of the most prolific of the lens makers in the last century was the French firm of Jamin and Darlot.
