- Abstract
The article discusses the process of making glass positives of "ambrotype", which was used to produce portraits that resembles daguerreotypes. According to the article, the process was named by Philadelphian photographer, Marcus Aurelius Root, which are made in standard sizes and framed in gilded brass and enclosed in cases. In addition, it states that James A. Cutting received three patents in relation to the process, although he was not the inventor and all he had were collodion negatives. Furthermore, it relates that photographic processes were used by various photographers in creating collodion positives.
