- Abstract
The article discusses the relationship between artists and their political environment, and presents an introduction to content in the current issue. Although many artists, especially those in the West, claim their work is free of political content, the editors refute this notion. In their view art provides insights into culture and social conditions and is therefore unavoidably political. Among articles in the current issue are those by K. Luisa Gandolfo on the evolution of Palestinian art, Walid el Houri and Dima Saber on strategies of resistance to occupation, and Michael Cohen on the work of Art Young.
