Does "Public Use" Mean the Same Thing It Did Last Year?
- Authors
Lemley, Mark A.
- Abstract
An essay is presented which addresses whether the U.S. patent law-related phrase "public use" has retained the same meaning between 2014 and 2015, and it mentions how America's Congress instituted an overhaul of the nation's patent system when it enacted the America Invents Act (AIA) in 2011. The legal rights of inventors in the U.S. are mentioned, along with the country's Patent and Trademark Office and interpretations of American patent laws. Rules regarding prior art are also examined.
