- Authors
Bastian, Lori A.; Sherman, Scott E.
- Abstract
The article talks about the effects of the wars on the general smoking habit of the U.S. veterans. It is reported that the prevalence of smoking is estimated to be up to 40 percent higher in veterans than in the general population. Smoking among veterans returning from recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is even higher. It is stated that these veterans are advised every year to quit smoking but those who try quitting without smoking cessation treatments are often unsuccessful.
