The article reports that scandium is preferably used in replacement for zirconium in mixing alloys. It states that precipitates of nanoscale core-shell inside multicomponent alloys are determined to confer strength and thermal stability beyond the expected from the constituent materials. The formation mechanism has conclusively manifested to include a combination of thermodynamic and kinetic processes.
