- Abstract
The article discusses the Chronic Pain and Opioid Medication Policies developed by the University of Michigan Health System Department of Family Medicine for patients in primary care settings. Their clinical process for evaluating patient need before signing therapeutic policy agreement for the controlled substance is described. Included in risk evaluations are the Pain Disability Index, Screener and Opioid Assessment for Patients in Pain, and Oswestry Low Back Pain Scale Questionnaire.
