The article presents the author's perspective concerning the use of metabolic equivalent of task (MET) level and the timed one-mile walk for fitness testing in measuring there is enough exercise. He mentions that if a person can exercise at the 10 MET level, the risk of death from all causes is lesser than the risk for someone who cannot. He notes that the timed one-mile walk have been made by some medical societies as a new vital sign for primary care physicians.
