Antenatal care for asylum seekers.
- Authors
Parrish, Mark; Renshaw, Anthony; Bretz, Paul J.; Milford, William J.
- Abstract
The authors discuss the need to improve the antenatal and postnatal care being provided to detainees in Australian immigration detentions. They say that maternity care must be provided in compliance to the Australian community standards and the guidelines made by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. They add that all new mothers from immigration detention are encouraged by the International Health and Medical Services (IHMS) to conduct breastfeeding.
