- Abstract
The article discusses the controversial final judo bout between Frenchman David Douillet and Japanese Shinichi Shinohara at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia. The controversial fight was held in Exhibition Hall at Darling Harbour in Sydney. The author stresses the opposite grips between the two fighters, Douillet right while Shinohara left. However, they both love the inner thigh throw that give a dramatic effect on the match. The author notes the situation in which the confusion of the result in the match started. He emphasizes the different view between the corner judge nearest to the pair and referee. The corner judge indicated a scored winning point throw by Shinohara while the referee gave point to Douillet who pronounced as the winner of the match.
