- Abstract
This document, titled "Neuromonitoring during STA-MCA bypass," discusses the use of neuro-monitoring techniques during superficial temporal artery to middle cerebral artery (STA-MCA) bypass surgery. STA-MCA bypass is a procedure used to revascularize the brain when one of the main arteries supplying blood to the brain is affected by disease or abnormal structures. Neuro-monitoring is an important tool used during surgical procedures to assess and protect vital structures, estimate blood flow, detect ischemia, and achieve better functional outcomes for patients. The neuro-monitoring modalities discussed in this document include electroencephalogram (EEG), somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEP), motor evoked potentials (MEP), and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). These techniques help to prevent neurological injuries and improve postoperative outcomes.
