- Abstract
A critique of the article "Fearful Asymmetry: Reading the Goldstone Report" by James Traub, which appeared in the journal's March/April 2010 issue, is presented, along with a reply to the critique by Traub. The topic addressed is the Goldstone Report, a document prepared by the United Nations (UN) Fact Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict under the leadership of Richard Goldstone. Commissioned by the UN Human Rights Council, the report investigated allegations of war crimes committed during the Israeli intervention in the Gaza Strip in late 2008 and early 2009. Controversies involving the report's findings, and their implications for international humanitarian law regarding asymmetric warfare, are debated.
