- Abstract
This article informs that teacher of speech education Egbert Ray Nichols' ability to discover and to train men and women is demonstrated by the number of individuals who have gone from his direction to positions of national and international reputation in the fields of government, education, business, law, and the ministry. He went to Franklin College, Indiana, for his undergraduate work and received the Ph.B. degree in 1907; and in 1909 the M.A. degree from Harvard. He went to teaching immediately, his first position being at Ottawa College, Kansas, where he was Professor of English Literature. However, his interest in debate led him to develop course work in speech, teaching courses in argumentation, debate, oratory, and public speaking.
