- Abstract
This article presents a case report of a 70-year-old man diagnosed with dermatomyositis (DM), a rare autoimmune disease that affects the muscles and skin. The patient had elevated levels of creatine kinase and positive anti-nuclear antibodies, as well as specific autoantibodies associated with cancer. The article describes the progression of the patient's symptoms, including deteriorating skin manifestations and the development of erosions and ulcerations. Treatment with steroids and other medications was attempted, but the patient ultimately died from a Pneumocystis jirovecii infection. The article highlights the unique cutaneous manifestation of DM in this patient and the presence of specific antibodies.
