- Title
Mercury Emissions Not Shrinking as Forecast.
- Authors
Holzman, David C.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the May 2010 report from the nonprofit Environmental Integrity Project (EIP) which shows that mercury emissions from coal-fired power plants have remained steady from 44 to 48 tons per year since 2000. The EIP report states that total emissions from all 470 mercury-releasing power plants in the U.S. fell by 4.71%. However, it says that the 4.71% decline is nowhere near the expected decline level if all plants installed modern pollution controls.
