- Abstract
The spatial distribution of the optical radiation of the plasma in a discharge gap and inside the cathode cavity was experimentally investigated for a nanosecond transverse electrical discharge with a slit cathode in argon at moderate pressures. For the conditions investigated, estimates of the factor γc have been obtained and the free paths of accelerated electrons in the plasma have been determined. It has been revealed that the structure of the optical radiation of a nanosecond discharge with a slit cathode is related to the features of the fast electron energy relaxation.
