- Abstract
Halal certification is essential to inform Muslims that products are manufactured using halal methods and halal ingredients; halal products can be identified through the halal system. Halal labeling and halal logos are part of the halal system that protects the consumer’s rights and facilitates in the selection of the products. The production and promotion of halal food in the industries of Muslims and non-Muslim countries is not only beneficial for foreign market share but also a positive and proud thing for the local people if they are Muslims while non-Muslims are also giving preference to pure and healthy food. The purpose of this article is to describe the brief history of halal industry in the countries which started giving priority to halal food production and those who are more active in halal industry. These not only meets the needs of the country but also imports a large number of halal products to other countries and are more active in halal market such as Australia, Turkey, Pakistan, and South Africa. Globally, the halal food market reported a turnover of 1.9 trillion dollars in 2020, with a further 11.3% growth expected in 2016-2021. While the global market for Muslim countries was 2.11 trillion dollars in 2017 which was expected to increase to 3 billion dollars in the coming 5 to 6 years.
