- Abstract
The article discusses an aerial survey of pygmy blue whales in a shelf upwelling region off Victoria, Australia. According to an analysis of photographs, the body length of pygmy right whales and dwarf minke whales were found to be 6.5 m, while Antarctic minke whales were observed to be 9 m in length. Colors were seen to vary from gray to pale gray or mid-brown, with pale gray undersides. Magnification of photographs revealed a faint dorsal chevron above and anterior to the flipper of some whales.
