- Abstract
The disadvantages of the planet becoming a global village are increasing. Problems such as climate change, poverty, hunger, thirst, income inequalities caused by disasters that have completely affected the planet such as global warming, pandemic, decrease in biological diversity, and wars have reached such dimensions that a single state or institution cannot cope. The basis of climate change is the traditional way business activities are conducted. Therefore, the economic system that ensures that the only purpose of enterprises with a destructive capitalist approach is profit must be abandoned. Because the business processes of shareholder capitalism that lead to negative externality, the linear economy approach makes sustainability impossible. Therefore, the concept of economic development should be transformed from its quantitative and qualitative dimensions into a sustainable economy, sustainable development in a broader perspective. The concept that expresses this approach, the mode of production, is the capitalism of stakeholders. Enterprises that carry out their activities with this mode of production that serves the philosophy of sustainable economy: Considering the rights of all stakeholders; using non-renewable natural resources depending on circular economy processes; they carry out production activities without destroying or polluting the environment. Climate change is not only a local but an international problem. Therefore, sustainability-based solutions need to be implemented on a global scale. Not to lose their market share in the increasingly competitive environment of enterprises that see the world as a market or to enter new ones; they need to internalize international standards such as Social Eligibility Criteria to gain a global image. The study aims to provide important information in this context.
