- Abstract
The article discusses the history of the French Communist Party (PFC). Particular focus is given to the party's relationship with the socialist, Bolshevist, and fascist movements. According to the author, the PFC's adoption of the Bolshevist model was followed by the purgation or voluntary departure of more than half the membership and the party's domination by Russian leaders. It is suggested that the rise of fascism redirected the party's energy and saved it from collapse. A photograph of PFC leader Marcel Cachin addressing the French Socialist Party (SFIO) is also presented.
