- Abstract
This article replies to discussion published on research conducted into beach responses to total exclusion barrages. A digital plan labeled the Ordnance Survey (OS) failed to show all gryones, and a global positioning system was used to reinforce grid coordinates of beaches. The missing gryones were located through conventional surveying techniques, including the use of electronic theodolites and steel-tape traverse. The time line of gryone assessments is given. Also discussed are the temporal models of M.R. Phillips intended to evaluate mean beach level variance due to coastal processes such as longshore transport.
