- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the species distribution and antifungal susceptibility of the pathogenic fungi Candida present in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive individuals conducted at the National Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) Research Institute (NARI) clinic at Pune, India. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and Rapid antibody tests were used to determine the HIV serostatus of the patients. The study found a significant link between oral candiasis and low cluster of differentiation 4 (CD4) cell count.
