- Abstract
The article focuses on the investigation of the labor scandal in Liberia that took place from 1926 to 1936 by the Baltimore, Maryland newspaper ''Afro-American" and the involvement of the U.S. company the Firestone Rubber Company and the U.S. government in the scandal. The author explores the role of the newspaper in its attempt to improve the socioeconomic conditions of African people on a global level. The concept of Pan-Africanism and its relationship to the implementation of global black solidarity and cooperation among African diaspora groups is discussed.
