Adversative Connectives in the Kulakia and Konikovo Gospels with Respect to Their Greek Source Texts (Part Two).
- Authors
Schallert, Joseph
- Abstract
The article deals with the usage and translation of adversative connectives in two 19th century Macedonian lectionaries, the Kulakia and Konikovo Gospels. It presents two distinctions in the linguistic literature: the difference between strong and weak adversative connectives and the difference between connectives used as conjunctions versus those used as discourse markers. Also discussed are the Macedonian language's word order, grammatical mood and rhetorical effect.
