- Abstract
This paper provides a vision of the perceived threat and prejudice that the inhabitants of the metropolitan area of the Valley of Mexico express in relation to undocumented Central American migration in transit through Mexico. For this objective, an instrument was developed and implemented, having as background the Theory of Subtle and Manifest Prejudice (Pettigrew and Meertens, 1995) and the Theory of Integrated Threat (Stephan and Stephan, 2000). The results support that there are differences according to educational level, the occupation of the participants, and the quality of contact with migrants. It is concluded that the inhabitants of the ZMVM present low levels of prejudice and perception of threat in general.
