Bowman, M. Elizabeth
- Abstract
Child welfare has one of the highest rates of turnover of any social work field. This article examines factors related to turnover, including supervisory support, through the lens of Attachment Theory. The impact of attachment behaviors of social workers with their supervisors on the problem of turnover in child welfare social work is explored. The usefulness of Attachment Theory to expand understanding of supervisory relation-ships in child welfare settings is highlighted, including implications for practice and intervention.
