- Abstract
The states of ES, RO and BA are the greatest Brazilian producers of conilon coffee. The cultivation of the species is challenging due to its production of a quality and sustainable product to attend the consumer market. Sustainability index is analyzed for the different regions of the state of ES and in the extreme south of the state of BA, producers of conilon coffee (phytosanitary, water and soil, health and social, environmental and financial security/management), the areas with the greatest number of good agricultural practices with low adhesion by producers and possible agents that may contribute towards the mitigation of the issue. The number of producers in each municipality to be sampled was defined. Later a questionnaire on good practices of Program Agro+ was applied. The northern region of ES was the most sustainable, whilst the regions in the south of the state and in BA had the lowest indexes. "Phytosanitary" and "water & soil" had the factors with low adhesion by the producers. The agents that could contribute to mitigate the problems of low adhesion were the Coops, associations of producers and Trade Unions.
