- Abstract
This article mainly focuses on the literary and political roles of different domestic-wild animals in Assyrian royal inscriptions. It also aims to discuss and perceive the political nature of the relationship between human-animal in royal inscriptions or annals considering from the idea that animals have been politicized and thus transformed into embodiments of ideological fiction. Thus, a connection has been formed between the courses of action of political leaders and the symbolic ideals that animals reflect. In royal inscriptions, not only do animals have economic assets and religious significance in terms of daily life practices. At the same time, it suggests that animals have a literary function to mediate a particular analogical language that makes it simpler and perceivable for signified (things). Addressing the sense and role of identification of animal metaphors and similes with the courses of action of the Assyrian kings and their enemies, some evaluations will be made on the nature of the relationships between the rulers and animals in the context of the Assyrian sovereignty policies.
