- Abstract
A new study published in the Annals of Neurosciences has identified a potential treatment option for individuals with drug-resistant epilepsy. The study focuses on a compound called 350, which acts as a direct activator of KCC2, a chloride transporter that helps regulate neuronal excitability. The compound has been shown to decrease the accumulation of chloride in neurons and inhibit the emergence of epileptic seizures. This new treatment option could potentially reduce the need for invasive surgical procedures and improve the quality of life for individuals with drug-resistant epilepsy. Further research is needed to determine the optimal dosage and long-term effects of the compound.
