- Abstract
This Paper employs a rigorous theoretical framework to critically review, analyse and interpret the Joan Robinson Employment theory from the lens of Development. The Paper follows a sound methodology by reviewing the original work of Joan Robinson, Keynes and Kalecki on Employment generation. Her work on Employment is analysed in light of the contemporary Development goal. Due emphasis has been given on her take on Public Investment, Fiscal Deficit, Social Sector Infrastructure and Pro Labor Policy initiatives to boost Development. We have followed a comparative analysis by comparing her employment model with Keynes. We found her theory to be way beyond the Keynesian employment theory, which was limited in its approach. Her employment theory has potential impact on addressing the widespread aspects of Socio-Economic Development. Central to our examination we found significant benefits of raising Fiscal Deficit, Public Investment, Investment on Social Welfare.
