The article focuses on the depiction of work and working class as well as social relations and hidden violences in French documentary cinemas. It discusses the themes of several films including the film "La Cérémonie," showing the relationship between a bourgeois family and their female servant, the film "Sauf le respect que je vous dois," showing intimidation and increasing pressure at workplaces, and the film "Ressources humaines," by Laurent Cantet.
