- Title
Can a Diet That Mimics Fasting Turn Back the Clock?
- Authors
Abbasi, Jennifer
- Abstract
The article reports on several studies investigating the use of periodic or intermittent fasting as a way to slow down aging. It mentions that caloric restriction of 20 to 50% has increased the life span of some species of animals, but most people can't achieve this goal. It discusses the results of studies on fasting one or two days a week that found that the diets achieved weight loss, lowered blood pressure and blood glucose levels.
