- Title
'A terrible battle with architecture': Denys Lasdun in the 1950s, part 2.
- Authors
Calder, Barnabas
- Abstract
The article looks at architect Denys Lasdun's work in the 1950s and his experimentation with a range of styles and his relationship to New Brutalism. It examines ways in which Lasdun tried in the later 1950s to wage his own battle with architecture, and to escape the sameness of English architecture. It looks at his attempts to develop a personal architectural style, his pursuit of fresh approaches, and his perceived positioning of himself close to the core group of New Brutalism.
