- Abstract
The article discusses the effectiveness of life-style interventions augmented with pharmacological interventions for treating obesity. It notes several weight management drug failures that led to unfortunate consequences such as methamphetamine, fenfluramine and sibutramine while second generation antipsychotic agents caused obesity epidemic among psychiatric patients. It suggests that medications should be the last resort and must be accompanied by a nutritional and behavioral program.
