- Abstract
The article reports that the world's largest particle collider, Large Hadron Collider (LHC) passed its major tests by firing two beams of protons in opposite directions around an underground ring on September 10, 2008. Scientists are said to be hoping it is the next great step in understanding the makeup of the universe. It cites the capability of the colider's detectors to take millions of snapshots a second. Indian contributions to this scientific event are also mentioned.
