- Title
The Welfare State Is the Wrong Target: A Reply to Bergh.
- Authors
Lindert, Peter H.
- Abstract
The article addresses the role of social welfare in the economic growth in Sweden through the book "Growing Public." The author mentions that the criticism of Andreas Bergh scopes only the Swedish tax and benefits policies that Bergh believed to be causing economic slowdown in Sweden, which the author instead pointed that legal and government intervention approaches with business markets hampered the economy. The author adds that the Swedish welfare system is not influenced by the European employee protection laws, which caused slowdown in recruitment.
