- Title
Radiation treatment generates therapy-resistant cancer stem cells from less aggressive breast cancer cells.
- Authors

- Abstract
The article reports that radiation treatment in breast cancer can transform cancer cells into treatment resistant cancer stem cells, even if the treatment kills half of all tumor cells. According to researchers, induced breast cancer stem cells were generated by radiation therapy through the same cellular pathway used to reprogram normal cells into induced pluripotent stem cells in regenerative medicine. The report highlights the mechanism developed by tumor cells to survive treatment.
