- Abstract
The author reflects on the prevalence of the Human T-lymphotropic virus (HTLV) type 1 and 2 in the U.S. Topics of discussion included were prevalence of HTLV infections in general populations, increased prevalence of prevalence of these bloodborne viruses and transmission of HTLV-1 through breastfeeding, sexual intercourse and use of contaminated blood or tissue products. It also mentions that the transmission of the virus occurs through the reuse of injection equipment.
