- Abstract
Uremia due to obstructive urolithiasis and urethral rupture was treated in eighteen ruminants. Tube cystotomy could not be performed in urethral rupture cases, as ventral abdomen was severely infiltrated with urine and infected. A novel approach was attempted both in adult bulls, bullocks and calves to perform laparocystotomy and urethrotomy. It was concluded that laparotomy and urethrotomy can be performed from a single site i.e. anterior to rudimentary teat in bull calves, while laparotomy at the caudal most area of paralumbar fossa can be practiced in adult animals, besides urethrotomy at the level of obstruction. Animals recovered uneventfully.
