- Abstract
The article discusses agricultural change in the Pacific Northwest region of the U.S. in the 19th century, with focus given to the marketing of agricultural machinery through trade cards. Particular focus is given to farm equipment suppliers Charles H. Dodd & Company and Knapp, Burrell & Company and farm machinery inventor Daniel Best. More generally, the author is concerned with the mechanization of the U.S. agricultural system during this period. Technological innovations discussed include combine harvesters, mowers, and mechanized reapers.
