- Title
The Paradox of film: an industry of sex, a form of seduction (on Jean Baudrillard's Seduction and the cinema).
- Authors
Vaughan, M. Hunter
- Abstract
The article discusses French sociologist and philosopher Jean Baudrillard and his work "Seduction." The author views "Seduction" as a largely overlooked work in Baudrillard's canon because it diverges from the philosopher's critique of images, appearances, and simulacra. The work largely deals with the philosophical concept of deconstruction. While Baudrillard was often critical of film, the author attempts to use the theories laid out in "Seduction" to discuss cinema as a seductive art form.
